Necropsy: Sample Gills


 

 

In this moviw the gills are samples and preserved in a formalin for histology. Fresh healthy gills should be bright cherry red. Pale gills may indicate anemia, fluid inbalance, parasites, necrosis, or autolysis. Observe the pseudobranch on the inside of the dorsal portion of the operculum.
