Necropsy: Remove Eye

With a pair of rat-tooth forceps, grasp and pull back on the conjunctiva, which surrounds the cornea. Use dissecting scissors to carefully cut the conjunctiva around the entire eyeball, and also cut the occuar muscles and the optic nerve. Preservation of eyes from small to medium sized fish in formalin is appropriate. For larger fish, you may wish to use a preservative with greater tissue penetration, such as Bouin's Fixative.
